Balloon Care Tips
At West Michigan Balloons, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, long-lasting balloon decor that adds a special touch to your event. To ensure your balloons look perfect from start to finish, here are some helpful care tips to keep them in great shape!
-
Keep Balloons Out of Direct Sunlight
Balloons can be sensitive to heat, and direct sunlight can cause them to fade, deflate, or even pop. Try to keep your balloons shaded during outdoor events. If you're using balloons inside, keep them away from windows or other sources of direct sunlight to maintain their vibrant colors. -
Avoid Sharp Objects
Balloon decorations can easily pop if they come into contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces. Be mindful of where you're setting them up, especially around furniture with sharp edges, plants with thorns, or any décor with pointy elements. -
Handle with Care
Whether you’re moving or adjusting your balloons, be gentle. Avoid squeezing or pressing them too hard, as this can cause them to burst or lose their shape. If you're moving your decor, do so carefully and ensure the balloons are secure and not rubbing against any abrasive surfaces. -
Monitor Temperature Fluctuations
Temperature changes can affect the appearance and longevity of your balloons. Exposure to heat or cold can cause helium to expand or contract, leading to balloons shrinking, deflating, or even popping. Be mindful of where you place your balloons—keep them away from air conditioning vents, heaters, or direct sunlight. Additionally, consider the time of day or season of your event, as temperature changes can affect balloon inflation over time. -
Keep Balloons Indoors for Longevity
Outdoor elements, like wind and rain, can dramatically reduce the lifespan of balloons. If you plan to have an outdoor event, try to limit the amount of time your balloons are exposed to the elements. For extended outdoor use, consider using weather-resistant options or opting for balloons filled with air instead of helium. -
Use Balloon Weights
If you're using helium-filled balloons, make sure to secure them with appropriate weights. This prevents them from floating away and ensures they remain beautifully positioned throughout your event. -
Keep Balloons Away from Pets
Pets love to explore, and they can be curious about balloons. To avoid accidents, keep balloons out of reach of animals to prevent chewing or popping. -
Plan for Temperature-Controlled Environments
Balloon inflation can be greatly influenced by the surrounding environment's temperature. Balloons inflated in cooler conditions may shrink when warmed up, and balloons inflated in hot conditions may expand and burst. Make sure to set up your balloons as close to event time as possible, especially if your venue has fluctuating temperatures. -
Dispose of Balloons Responsibly
After your event, if we are not returning to tear down your balloons, it’s important to dispose of balloons responsibly. Avoid popping them and leaving debris behind. Do NOT release any helium balloons.
By following these tips, you can ensure your balloon decor remains beautiful and lasts longer. At West Michigan Balloons, we want your event to be unforgettable, and taking good care of your balloons is part of making that happen!
